All New Franklin Residents & Businesses Must File
All New Franklin residents and businesses must file an income tax return on or before April 15th of each year even if no tax is due. If your New Franklin income taxes are not deducted from your pay, you may be required to pay quarterly estimated taxes. If you are unsure as to whether you are required to make estimated payments, please contact RITA at 800-860-7482. New Franklin Income Tax first became effective on September 1, 2005. Credits & Exemptions
Residents of New Franklin receive a tax credit of up to 1% (2% beginning in 2017) of income taxes paid to another municipality or JEDD. You must still file your annual return, even if no tax is due.
Exemptions exist for retirees' pension and interest on savings accounts, military pay and allowance, unemployment and welfare benefits, etc. You must file an Exemption Form for the first year this applies. You are required to resume regular filing if your status changes or you receive reportable income.
The income of Individuals under 18 years of age is exempt.

Delinquent Filing
Residents and businesses failing to file and/or pay income taxes when due will be assessed penalties and interest and could be summoned to Court. If you have received a letter regarding delinquent filing or income taxes owed, please contact the New Franklin Finance Director at 330-882-4324 for assistance. The Finance Director and RITA will work with individuals/businesses to bring their accounts current.
