Holiday Help for New Franklin Families

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS – CARING AND SHARING snowman holding Christmas gift

We are proud to announce the renewal of our “Holiday Help” program, to provide Christmas funds to some families in need, and we invite you to donate as well if you are able. Each year eight families for whom Santa could use a little help are selected (two from each school district – Norton, Coventry, Northwest and Manchester- with the assistance of school personnel). Your New Franklin Police/Fire/Service/Zoning and Administration Departments, with a big assist from City Council, pitch in to raise funds. We always hope to have at least $300 for each family, so our target this year is $2500.

Last year we received a thank you note from one of the previous year’s recipients who shared how important the help was to her and her family the preceding year. She went on to say things had gotten much better in the year that followed and wanted to “pay it forward.” There in the card was a twenty-dollar bill with the wish that this money could be used for another family in need this Christmas!

Wow! The message and the gift brought tears to the eyes of the staff. What a wonderful person, and what a wonderful place we live. Needless to say, this brings even more vigor to our efforts for this year. Deadline for giving is Friday December 1st to give us time to get the funds (gift cards) to the families so they can do a little shopping! If you’re able to help, please call Chris or Katie at (330) 882-4324 and they will provide details for giving. Together we will do our best once again to advance the true spirit of Christmas here in New Franklin!
