South Main St. Bridge Weight Limit Reduced

Orange Detour Sign

Effective May 10, 2023, ODOT has reduced the load limit to three (3) tons on the South Main St. bridge approximately 700' north of Comet Road (in front of B-Sharp Property Maintenance) as a result of its most recent inspection. The Summit County Engineer is responsible for maintenance and repair of this bridge and has already contracted for repairs. Supply chain issues have created a delay, but the repairs should be made this summer.

The weight of the average passenger car is two tons. Tractor trailers and other heavy vehicles will not be permitted to use this segment of the roadway until repairs have been made. Detour signs for those vehicles will be posted. Construction is anticipated to take 75 days (during which the road will be closed entirely). We will post updates as they become available.
