Issue 2 Town Hall Discussion
Mayor Al Bollas will host the second of two Town Hall discussions Monday, July 25. At this time, residents will have the opportunity to ask questions and state concerns surrounding Issue 2, a proposed income tax increase that will be on the August 2 special election ballot.

A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage.
SHALL THE ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A 1% LEVY INCREASE ON INCOME FROM 1% TO 2% FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE NEW FRANKLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL OPERATIONS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS OF THE CITY BE PASSED? UPON PASSAGE OF THE INCOME TAX INCREASE, THE NEW FRANKLIN 2.5 MILLS CONTINUOUS POLICE LEVY SHALL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE REAL ESTATE TAXES EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2016 FOR THE TAX YEAR 2016 / COLLECTION YEAR 2017.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
New Franklin City Council will hold a public hearing on WEDNESDAY, JULY 20, 2016, at 6:00 PM, at the New Franklin City Hall, 5611 Manchester Road, to hear and address comments regarding ORDINANCE NO: 16-O- 04 AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF 4332 MANCHESTER ROAD (PERMANENT PARCEL NUMBER 2601693) FROM R-2 MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL TO B-1 LIGHT COMMERCIAL and Ordinance Number 16-O- 05 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND NEW FRANKLIN ZONING CODE SECTION 300.02 TO INCREASE ZONING PERMIT FEES FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ADD STRUCTURES WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING A ZONING PERMIT AND DECLARING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON PASSAGE.
Information on the request is available for public viewing at the city’s website www.newfranklin.org or in the zoning office from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday- Friday. Questions may be asked by calling 330-882- 4611.
Van Buren Road will be closed between Vanderhoof Road and Center Road due to repair work on the Van Buren Road Bridge. Dates for the closing will be from May 30, 2016 through July 14, 2016. Detour signs will be posted.

The Summit County Public Health Department will be conducting routine inspections of septic systems in the City of New Franklin beginning in March of 2015. All of the Summit County Public Health Department staff will be wearing verifiable identification. Routine inspections of residential septic systems have been ongoing in Summit County since 2004.
